Our Home – Our Dream.

Hello, we are Hugh and Elizabeth and we look forward to sharing our dream with you. It all became a reality in 1999, when we purchased the property which has become Cougal Park.Hugh, Liz & the girls

We designed and built our home from the ground up – which is far easier than starting at the top! It has three accommodation suites, each consisting of a spacious bedroom and large bathroom, the bedroom opening out onto a common verandah, running the length of the house. In front of the dining area is a large deck, which is ideal for enjoying outdoor meals and or just relaxing and taking in the view.

You can enjoy the sight and sounds of the birds from the comfort of your own chair on the deck, or sit under the trees on the large park bench and experience the peace and beauty as you gaze across the valley. In the evening, enjoy dinner on the deck and gaze at the stars, hear the Koalas, night birds and frogs calling. Red Necked Wallabies & Pademelons graze around the house and gardens at dusk and dawn – view some images in our gallery.

6m BlackboyMany old logging tracks crisscross the property, for those who have time to walk or bird watch and if you are lucky enough, Hugh or Elizabeth just might take you for a ride in the Avenger, an eight-wheel-drive, all-terrain vehicle, to explore some of the property seeing such sights as a 6m tall Grass Tree, Orchids, Staghorns and Elkhorns flourishing in the rainforest and check out our progress with the bush regeneration.

The Dining and Lounge rooms are separated by a double-sided fireplace and provide a feeling of space and comfort. Additional warmth is provided by the large slow combustion wood-fired stove in the open kitchen which also shares the area of the main hall.

In 2010, solar water heating was installed at the house, since then, the rain has continued!
